4am Visitor

Last night we got a phone call at 4 am from my brother that he was on his way to our house to drop off my niece, Bella, on his way to the hospital. My sister-in-law Trisha was in labor! I was too excited to go back to sleep so I ended up heading over to the hospital with my sister Mel to be there for the delivery. At 6:31 baby boy De La Paz was born weighing 8 lbs. 12 oz. He is a cutie and looks just like his sister Bella. I only snapped a few pictures and this is the best I had of the little guy. We are so excited!

Later today I am heading off to SLC where I'll be visiting my Mom for a week. Thanks to all who have expressed concern and sent love our way. Also several people volunteered to watch Macie or give a place to stay...thanks. I will be staying downtown with my cousin and we'll see how well Macie does with friends. I may be giving some of you a call!

New Pillow

We got Macie her own pillow the other day and she really likes it. I thought it was so cute that she wanted to lay down right away and give it kisses. What a funny girl.

Dress Up

Shoes, shoes, and more shoes. Macie likes to put on and carry around shoes of all types. She found some of her infant shoes the other day and was mad when she couldn't get them on her feet because they were too small. She says "shoes" pretty well now. I was at the store the other day and she was getting fussy because she wanted to run all over, but when we got to the shoe section she calmed down and kept sticking her foot out for me to try shoes on her. She watched closely as I would put them on her and then would stare at her feet, perhaps deciding if she liked them or not.

She also has a couple pairs of her own sunglasses because she was always playing with "big people" ones that didn't fit. Her Waldron grandparents got her these ones here. Very stylish.

My Mom

I thought I'd take a moment to write a little about my Mom because today is her birthday. Happy birthday Mom!!! Since she doesn't live in Vegas anymore we didn't get to see her today, only talk on the phone. We were lucky enough to see her just last weekend when my family came to town. My mom is definitely the rock of our family. See is the best grandma ever and loves her little girls to pieces. See is happy spending all her time following Macie around and taking care of her while enjoying every minute of it. I do miss her living in Genoa now, but we are still close and talk mostly every day.

Some of you already know, but for those that don't, my mom was diagnosed with Leukemia in late November of 2005. She went through chemotherapy treatments lasting 6 months and is now in remission. Her recovery hasn't been the smoothest, and doctors kept a close eye on her. We found out recently that she has Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a nasty disease that requires a bone marrow transplant. Without it the Leukemia will most likely relapse. Without going into too much detail, they are trying to rush the transplant before the relapse occurs. She was lucky enough to have a sibling match for bone marrow, has undergone most of the testing she needs to start the process next week. It will take the entire summer and then some from start to finish. This time her treatment will be done is Salt Lake at the LDS Hospital where she will be under the care of specialized doctors and receiving the most cutting edge treatments. I will be in and out of Salt Lake during the hospital time since my dad can't be there during the week days. We're not quite sure about how it will all work out as there are still lots of unanswered questions. However, we are anxious to get the process underway and hope and pray that it will save her life and completely heal her from further ailments.

SO, before she has to undergo the long, hard process I want to wish her a happy birthday and Mother's Day! We love you!

Wedding Weekend

This weekend was a busy one with 2 family weddings to attend. Both were my cousins, one in St. George and the other here in Vegas. So we were in Utah for half the day attending the sealing and luncheon, and then drove back to Vegas for the other reception. It was a lot of fun seeing so much family, but very busy. Several relatives from Mexico came so it was a lot of fun to see them and have them meet Macie.

Macie shows off her sweet dance moves.

Outside the St. George temple with Bella, Mami and Papi.

Classic cousins shot: Me, Natalie, Charlie, Melissa. Growing up we were all close and always have a great time together.
